Scribe Speech Recognition Setup & Management Instructions
Welcome to Scribe's speech recognition system. Please follow these instructions to download the Scribe Speech Recognition Manager Tool and setup your computer to utilize both interactive and batch speech recognition. Set Up Your Speech Profile with Scribe.

Step 1: Download & Install Scribe SR Manager Tool Components
The following components need to be installed in order to use SR Manager:

  • Make sure your computer is enabled for Microsoft speech recognition
  • Microsoft .Net Framework Requirements
    • Open the Add Or Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel
    • Look for any version of Microsoft .NET Framework in the Currently Installed Programs list
    • If it’s not installed, follow this link to download and install it: Download .NET Framework
  • Profile Development Tool
    • Click here to download the install program.
    • Save it to your computer.
    • Double click the file to install it.
  • Lexicon Manager Tool
    • Click here to download the install program.
    • Save it to your computer.
    • Double click the file to install it.
  • Pronounciation Tool
    • Click here to download the install program.
    • Save it to your computer.
    • Double click the file to install it.
    Scribe SR Manager
    • Click here to download the install program.
    • Save it to your computer.
    • Double click the file to install it.

Step 2: Train a speech profile on your computer

  • Start the Scribe SR Manager by double clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • From the menu click on profile, then Train. Then select one of the exercises to use.
  • Follow the instructions for training. The more training you do the better the recognition will be. You can use the same exercises over and over.

Step 3: Upload your profile to Scribe

  • Start the Scribe SR Manager by double clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • From the menu click on profile, then Upload.
  • Select the profile you wish to upload - usually there will be just one.
  • Enter your Scribe Phone ID when prompted.
  • Follow the instructions to upload your profile. Depending on the speed of your connection and the size of your file this may take several minutes.

Step 4: Update Your Local Lexicon

  • Add specialized medical terminology to your computers speech engine lexicon.
  • Start the Scribe SR Manager by double clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • From the menu click on lexicon and then click download from scribe.
  • Follow the instructions to download the medical terminology from Scribe to your local computer.
  • You can add words unique to your practice by simply clicking on the add word to local lexicon option.

Step 5: Use Speech Recognition

  • You are now ready to use speech recognition either interactively on your computer or via the Scribe Digital Dictation System in batch mode.
  • To use it interactively simply login into Scribe and then create a new document from the inbox menu using your templates. Then turn on speech recognition on your computer and begin dictating into the document.
  • To use it in batch mode on the phone simply call the Scribe digital dictation system and dictate normally. At the end of your dictation chose option 8 to set your speech recognition options.
